Best Kindergarten Support Volunteer Program in Ha Long Bay? – Involvement Volunteers Australia

Review: Why volunteer in Kindergarten Support with IVI?

This was truly an unforgettable experience with so many highlights to share. The kids are the cutest human beings ever – they excitedly await your arrival from the gate yelling “Teacher … Teacher …” running towards you to embrace you in a warm hug and share with you a friendly smile. They grab your hand and pull you in the classroom, grab a seat and sit patiently as you prepare to teach. Their enthusiasm to learn is unmatched; they scream the answers, they give you their full attention and they are genuinely interested in what you have to teach them. Across age groups spanning from the 3 year olds to the 5 year olds, we taught many different topics such as ABCs, numbers, transportation, colours, shapes, animals, body parts and we had a blast doing it. Some highlights would definitely be trying the local cuisine, stopping at the Local Bubble tea place on the way home from school each afternoon, sight seeing on the weekend (e.g. we embarked on a Ha Long Bay Boat Cruise), the kiddos smiles and laughter, learning about local culture and language and so much more.

Volunteering is such a beautiful way to both see and change the world. I am so grateful that I have been afforded the opportunity to share my passion and love for teaching with others through Involvement Volunteers International (IVI).

What about the Accommodation and the Team?

Tiny, our teaching coordinator was truly the most amazing person ever. We were the first ever volunteers the local team have had in Ha Long Bay. This meant that we got to explore many things with our coordinator together. For example, we set sail on a one day Ha Long Bay cruise, explored the town, local markets, cultural sites ect. Spending so much time together we created a really special bond – a friendship I miss dearly. We keep in contact and it is exciting to hear that Tiny will officially move to Ha Long Bay to facilitate the programs in March. The food was primarily Vietnamese cuisine, but very accommodating of Western taste buds. The hotel accommodation fed us delicious meals and always offered bread, eggs and chips as an alternative to pho for breakfast ect. The accommodation for this program is currently under renovations and so we were fortunate enough to be housed in a very beautiful hotel with our coordinator only a few doors down. It was situated in a good location, with most facilities needed within a brisk 15 minute walk. The teachers at the school were also super accomodating, invited us to eat with them for lunch each day and supported us to teach, learn and grow with and for the children.
