Nutrition & Public Health 2019 Fiji

Oh so blessed to work with a bunch of likeminded legends to complete health checks on the local Fijian people over the past two weeks Involvement Volunteers International?? Our first week was spent in Lautoka with a beautiful host family. I’ll be forever grateful for their hospitality and support while staying in their home!

From here we ventured to two local villages Lovu Hart and Koroipita. In our second week, we were lucky enough to stay on Tokiriki Island in the Mamanuca Islands, completing health checks on the resort staff and building great rapport with them. From here we visited two remote island villages; Yanuya and Tavua. Being so remote proved to be extra challenging when it came getting the patients to the mainland who required immediate medical attention but we did our absolute best and reached over 200 people.

A humbling and awakening experience with a little reminder that not all are as lucky as we are in the western world, but smile always and everything works out on Fiji time ?. I came with no intentions and with a mixture of emotions, I leave with a full heart. Enormous thanks to my team of new friends, our coordinator Jules Galloway – Naturopath and the Fijian people!
