Teaching English in Rural School Review – 2015

Link to Project

My volunteer placement in Bodhgaya was a profoundly rich experience, which I’m quite sure has altered my path in life to align more closely with my soul’s purpose. I spent a lot of time……..
with the kids at the school, and I am indebted to them for opening my heart. It is incredibly humbling, rewarding and inspiring to see how easy it can be to make a difference to the lives of people who deserve it.

The difference starts with just turning up. For me, that was made possible by IVI. My research of volunteer organisations drew me to IVI, who have a reputation of being authentic, credible and non-profit. After returning from my placement, I had the good fortune to meet Brian and Lauren, and connected with them immediately.

I’ve now seen how the volunteer experience can create a deep mutual exchange of love, humility and gratitude. I applaud IVI for making that possible for me and others. I’ll certainly be visiting Bodhgaya again. I formed close friendships there, and I look forward to keeping in contact with Brian and Lauren to build on our friendship and to promote their efforts.
